Mary Alexander Kaufman collection

Scope and Contents This collection consists of one poem titled, "Major's Only Son," the tale of an ill-fated and fatal love affair. It is handwritten on four pages and is composed of sixty-seven rhymed couplets or one hundred and thirty-four lines. When asked when the poem was written, Darwin Kelley, Mary Alexander Kaufman's great grandson, answered that it was "probably written and revised over a long period, 1855-1890."
