Scope and Contents The collection consists of a handwritten ledger book of labor for construction of the Fort Wayne and Southern Railroad in Blackford County, Indiana, in 1854, listing the names of workers along with the days and hours each worked. Additional notes are included for 1868. The time book was kept by David Miller Mercer, who was one of the investors in the railroad.

Scope and Contents This collection includes a stock certificate for 100 shares in the Fort Wayne and Southern Railroad purchased by a James Taggart. Dated November 21, 1854, the certificate is signed by company president William H. Holman and secretary David T. Haines.

Scope and Contents This collection include a trustee's certificate of a $1,000.00 first mortgage for the Indiana, Bloomington and Western Railway Company. The mortgage was to pay 7 percent interest and the principal was payable in A.D. 1900. The circa 1880 certificate was never given a number or signed by the president of the Central Trust Company of New York.
