The collection contains photostats of trade licenses, oaths, and bonds in manuscript and printed form, in French and English, and lists of licenses granted for the years 1766 to 1790. These photostats were made by the Minnesota Historical Society in 1925 from negatives received from the Canadian Archives and from negatives in the possession of Professor Wayne E. Stevens of Dartmouth College. The materials document the British and French trade in the Ohio Valley.

This collection includes one free permit to hunt, fish, and trap without a license issued to David J. McCormick, dated July 21, 1928, by the Indiana Department of Conservation, Division of Fish and Game. This special free permit, "issued only to honorably discharged ex-service men residents of Indiana" was issued to the 79-year-old McCormick as a discharged veteran of the Spanish-American War.

The collection also includes a February, 1934 typed summary of Mr. Kitzinger's teaching record (1851-1864) written by his grandson, Robert E. Eckert, and based on information found in John T. Melchior's 1933 history of early pioneers in and around Jasper, Indiana.
