Northrup of Galway, Saratoga County, New York and sent to the county clerk of Steuben County, Indiana. Northrup was inquiring into land he had purchased in the county and whether the taxes had been paid. Northrup had been sending money to a Mr. Chauncy to pay the taxes, but he had not received any receipts or notifications that they were paid after 1844.
