Biographical Note
Harry Willis Miller was born September 18, 1878 on a farm southwest of Flint in Steuben County, Indiana, the third youngest child of Thaddeus Kane and Ellen Mathilda (Stout) Miller. When his father was elected county recorder, the family moved to Angola. He graduated from the local high school in 1896 and entered Tri-State Normal College in the fall of that year. In 1898, Miller served as a private with Company H, 157th Indiana Volunteer Infantry during the Spanish-American War. He went to Chicago in 1899 and moved to Muscatine, Iowa in 1902. Miller married Ida May Day on April 10, 1902 and they had one son, Willis H. Miller. The family also lived in Watertown, South Dakota and St. Paul, Minnesota before moving to Hudson, Wisconsin in 1922. Miller died at the age of 63 on June 13, 1942.
