Helen [S] Bates wrote 2 letters in 1967 to Mrs. Hopper regarding old papers and letters which she was reviewing for a friend.
There are letters from Daniel Hammond (d. 1849), a barrel maker in Americus (Tippecanoe County), Indiana (1847-1849); from Charles and Sarah (Hammond) Bruce, laborers in Fort Wayne and Swan (1841-1867); and from family members in Mishawaka (St. Joseph County) (1845-1850).
The Orr family papers include teachers’ licenses and other family and school documents relating to the Orr family in DeKalb and Steuben Counties (1869-1904); a history of the Orr family; a notebook listing engineers and firemen hired on the Wabash railroad from 1857-1898.
There are two issues of the Ashley-Hudson Times newspapers (1916, 1932).
There are 4 framed cards, some of which may have been valentines.
