The collection contains World War II letters of Howard to his parents, Louise and George Howard (Evansville, Indiana), written from the South Pacific, Okinawa, China, Korea, the Philippines, California, and Ft. Benjamin Harrison. The collection also includes correspondence from the Howard’s daughters Marilyn, a student at Indiana University, and Mrs. R.C. Datzman, a medical technician and wife of a physician in Detroit and Carlysle, Pennsylvania, during the same time period.

There are two certificates regarding the appointment of Jenkinson as U.S. consul to Glasgow, Scotland, Great Britain and its acknowledgement by the British government in 1869 (OBC157).
