This collection includes a photostatic copy of a handwritten account entitled, "Pioneer Times: A Hunting Narrative for the Boys" written by Samuel Morrison during the mid to late 1880s concerning his experiences on a typical hunting expedition in the early 1800s. There is also a two-page, typed document presumably written by Evangeline Hayes Bauer, daughter of Ezra G. Hayes, from the early 1900s, about her reminiscences of Morrison's interactions with her family before his death in 1887.

This collection includes a two-page, handwritten census of the "mixed band" of Seneca and Shawnee led by Civil John (Me-tho-mea), possibly taken by an appointed Indian agent, in present-day Ohio circa 1810s-1830s, regarding the names of the heads of families, the number, age range, and gender of individuals per family, the number of horses per family, and any remarks.

This collection includes the handwritten narrative titled, "The Acts and Character of Nan bo Shoo," circa 1830. The name "Nan bo Shoo" is a misspelling of the Potawatomi legendary hero "Nanabozho." Nanabozho is known by a number of names among the Anishinaabe tribes and his character and attributes vary among the stories from the different Native American communities.
