Administrative History

The Marion County Coordinators of Integrated Education (MCCIE) was founded during the 1981-1982 school year as an outgrowth of the Marion County Desegregation Coordinators. The MCCIE was founded to deal with all matters related to school integration and to use the resources available in the six participating suburban school districts in the county and city of Indianapolis. The six school districts involved were Decatur Township, Franklin Township, Lawrence Township, Perry Township, Wayne Township, and Warren Township. The MCCIE was composed of representatives from the six suburban township schools, a representative from the Indiana Department of Education, a representative from the Indianapolis Public Schools, and a representative from the Community Desegregation Advisory Council. In the 1995-1996 school year, Pike Township and Washington Township joined MCCIE.
