Biographical Note

Ambrose Goare Ruddell was born in 1808 to George and Mary Amelia (Goare) Ruddell in Kentucky and grew up in Ruddell's Mill near Paris, Kentucky. He became a physician and moved to Allisonville in Washington Township Marion County, Indiana (now Indianapolis) in 1832. Ruddell married Nancy Torrance Nesbit (1810-1885) of Indiana on February 25, 1834 and they had a son, James Henry (1840-1885) and a daughter, May.

Ruddell died in 1875 and is buried at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
