Biographical Note
William R. Shimer was a farmer and early pioneer of Marion County, Indiana. Born on December 8, 1825 in Zanesville, Ohio to Elias and Mahala Shimer, he moved with his family to Warren Township in November, 1829. He married Elizabeth O'Neal (1833-1877) on October 31, 1850 and they had 8 children. After Elizabeth's death in 1877, he married Susan M. Dunn (1840-1920) on November 5, 1878. Mr. Shimer died at the age of 90 on Janaury 3, 1915.
