Beatrice White song book

 Collection — Folder: S1917
Identifier: S1917

Scope and Contents

This collection includes a soft-cover composition book used by Beatrice White to compile various songs and hymns starting in 1902. Along with the 31 handwritten copies of songs, the book also has a clipping of a January 21, 1917 article from the Indianapolis Star about Sarah Flowers Adams and her famous hymn, "Nearer, My God, to Thee." There are two additional handwritten notes by White in the back of the book, one dated May 12, 1902 that mentions it was a locust year, that the area wasn't suffering much damage from the insects, and that she was 18 years old; the other mentions that Lillie White died on June 12, 1885, it was a locust year, and notes the ages of herself and her siblings on that day.
