Scope and Contents
This collection contains 38 land deeds ranging from 1849 to 1943 for property in Hancock County and Marion County, Indiana owned by the Hanna, McCord, and Pickle families. Other names found on the land deeds include Howell, McConnell, Witham, Crumbaugh, Emery, Hiday, Apple, Crosley, Smith, Dobbins, Rock, Yates, Potts, Barr, Robb, Cooper, Pentecost, and the Oakland Gas and Oil Company.
Other items in the collection include an abstract of title prepared for Enoch Walter McCord on January 24, 1898 for property in Hancock County; an April 18, 1911 "Notice of Assessment of Real Estate and Improvements" for property owned by McCord in Buck Creek Township, Hancock County; an abstract of title for Lot 8 in John O.D. Lillys subdivision of the Drake Addition to the city of Indianapolis dated July 5, 1916; an abstract of title continuation for property in Marion County owned by Enoch W. and Myrtle McCord dated March 6, 1930; an affidavit signed December 1, 1932 by Lewis C. Pickle affirming he was the husband of Alice A. Pickle and was joint owner of property in Marion County; documents from the Bankers Trust Company regarding a real estate mortgage for the McCords dated September 22, 1941; a "Schedule of All Property" for the estate of Lewis C. Pickle signed by Myrtle McCord on October 26, 1943; and a receipt for Enoch W. McCord's final payment to the American Fletcher National Bank and Trust Company on March 21, 1960.

Biographical Note
Enoch Walter McCord was born January 30, 1870 near McCordsville, Indiana to Aquilla and Leanna (Hanna) McCord. His parents owned a farm in Lawrence Township, Marion County and a general store in McCordsville. McCord began helping in his father's general store at a young age and later took over the family farm and began raising harness horses. He called his 160 acre farm Haddon Hall Farm. He married Myrtle D. Pickle, the daughter of Lewis Cass and Alice Jordan Pickle, on December 6, 1908. Known by many as the "Dean of Harness Racing in Indiana," he participated in the first harness race conducted at the new fairgrounds of the Indiana State Fair in 1892 and drove his last race at the fair in 1937. McCord passed away at the age of 99 on July 3, 1969.
