Musicians research collection

 Collection — Folder: S1629
Identifier: S1629

Scope and Contents

The letters were written in response to a request for information from Indiana composers. The original request letter is not included, but, based on the answers, must have asked for biographical information, where that person studied music, professional music work, and awards in competitions. Some of the responses include lists of the songs they composed and their publishers. Most of these Hoosier musicians lived in other states. Among the songs listed are cello solos, piano arrangements, violin solos, and lyrics. There is one booklet entitled "Carson Tropic School," which was an open-air school in Miami Beach, Florida, affiliated with the Miami Beach College of Music. Most of the letters were addressed to Mrs. Clyde E. Titus, Indianapolis.
