The letters were written in response to a request for information from Indiana composers. The original request letter is not included, but, based on the answers, must have asked for biographical information, where that person studied music, professional music work, and awards in competitions. Some of the responses include lists of the songs they composed and their publishers. Most of these Hoosier musicians lived in other states.
