The warranty deed conveys property in Vigo County, Indiana, from Chauncey Rose to William P. Hickman, on March 20, 1867. Mr. Hickman paid Mr. Rose $650.00 for the land. County Recorder John B. Meyer recorded the transaction on December 23, 1868, in Record 36, page 572. On the same date, Auditor William Paddock added his name to the document.

Biographical Note

Chauncey Rose, who signed this warranty deed conveying land in Vigo County to William P. Hickman, was the builder of the Terre Haute and Indianapolis Railroad and the Terre Haute and Vandalia Railroad. He was also the founder of the Rhodes Polytechnic Institute of Terre Haute. Mr. Rose was instrumental in the construction of the Union Depot at Indianapolis. He was a bachelor.
