Biographical Note

Bazil Brooke Edmonston was born on May 14, 1766 in Prince George's County, Maryland to Ninian and Dorothy Edmonston. He was one of at least three children. He married Hannah (Rose) in 1785 or 1786 and they had ten children. Their sons Benjamin Rose Edmonston served in the Indiana House of Representative and the Indiana Senate, and Bazil Brooke Edmonston, Jr. served in the Indiana House of Representatives. Bazil Brooke [Sr] was a clerk of the court for 28 years, served as a postmaster, and was a probate judge. He lived in Dubois County, Indiana for many years and died in January 1841. He is buried in the Jasper, Indiana cemetery.
