Scope and Contents This collection includes a June 22, 1821 handwritten letter, 7 ¾’ wide and 6” high, with faded ink, by James Buchanan. The addressee is unknown. There is a typed transcript of the letter, which is well done. The letter concerns payment of money owed and bail for Mr. Gambler. The men mentioned in the letter are: Christian Hertzler, Jacob Gambler, George Meyer, Christian Miller, and George Weaver.
