Paine (1830-1895), regarding Indianapolis life, the works of other Indiana writers, including James Whitcomb Riley, and advice on Carleton’s writing (1889-1895). Scope and Contents This collection includes an Elmhurst Hymnal (circa 1921) that Emma Carleton used as a scrapbook. The scrapbook contains a number of letters sent to her by Daniel L. Paine, an Indianapolis poet and newspaperman, from 1888 to 1895 and two undated photographs, one of 4 unidentified women and another with the description "Majorie L, age 7, taken on the school house steps."
