The history begins in the year 1763 with Lottie Relander's great-great grandfather, who lived in Virginia in the early 1770s, and concludes with the 1870 marriage of Mary Gregg, Lottie Relander's mother, to Charles Relander, an immigrant from Sweden living in Danville, Indiana. The collection includes estate and business papers of Joseph Bailey, Francis Howe’s letters to his fiancée Rose Bailey, Rose Bailey’s letters to her two daughters while they attended St. Mary-of-the-Woods Academy (1855-1869). Also included is correspondence with Rose Bailey Howe’s sister Eleanor who became a nun, Mother Mary Cecilia.
