Scope and Contents This collection includes a photocopy of a February 10, 1848 letter written by Major D. Northrup of Galway, Saratoga County, New York and sent to the county clerk of Steuben County, Indiana. Northrup was inquiring into land he had purchased in the county and whether the taxes had been paid. Northrup had been sending money to a Mr. Chauncy to pay the taxes, but he had not received any receipts or notifications that they were paid after 1844. Scope and Contents This collection includes an 1876 ledger with owner's names, their land and the land's valuation in Irvington, once a suburb on the east side of Indianapolis, Indiana. The land is described by lot number and a total amount of road tax is listed within the final column.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of one receipt (#832), issued in the name of H.W. Fort[erileg] by H.J.G. of the City Treasurer’s Office of Indianapolis, Indiana to S.W. Elliot for &120.84, received in payment (via W.I. Elliott) of personal property tax.
