It describes his service near Washington D.C. until September 5th, 1862, and his stay in a regiment hospital near Antietam, Maryland, for treatment of diarrhea and bilious fevers. The letter then describes his service assignments as a wagoner at Hay Market, Virginia and Thoroughfare Gap.
