The collection is one letter written by Whitelaw Reid on February 15, 1863, in which he declines the offer of the editorship of a proposed "loyal" newspaper to be published in New Albany, Indiana, for the reason of his being settled in or, as Reid put it, being a "fixture in the Gazette."
