Series 1 of this collection contains binders of genealogical records compiled by Lawrence W. Shultz of Manchester, Indiana for his book, "Shultz Family Record." These binders are undated, although the Shultz Family Record was published in 1966. In addition to his research, there are two copies of the manuscript of the Shultz Family Recordand a "dummy copy" that was created as an outline of the book.
Series 2 of this collection includes personal papers of Lawrence W. Shultz in Manchester, Indiana ranging from 1932 to 1981 regarding genealogy, Church of the Brethren services and tours of Europe and the U.S., and the purchase and sale of books. Also in this series is correspondence to and from Lawrence W. Shultz regarding genealogy, speaking engagements, book negotiations, and European tours.

Biographical Note
Lawrence W. Shultz was born in Huntington (Ind.) on October 24, 1890. He graduated from Manchester College in 1914 and later obtained his Master's degree from Northwestern University in 1924. Shultz was a librarian at Manchester College for 17 years and was a minister in the Church of the Brethren. During his lifetime, he published five books in addition to his Shultz Family Record. Lawrence W. Shultz died on May 22, 1982 in Manchester, Indiana
