The first item is a letter from Benjamin Bales of Moreland, Indiana on October 17, 1883, to his nephew Levi Bales, asking him not to join the Dunkards, do it. Scope and Contents The collection consists of Nicodemus Bigler’s correspondence (1874–1899) with his daughter, Jane Bigler of Greenville, Darke County, Ohio. The letters detail 19th century farm life, Bigler’s shoe repair, community, and religious groups in the area, including Dunkards and Mennonites.
