Biographical Note
Josiah Small was born October 18, 1790 in Randolph County, North Carolina to Obadiah and Elizabeth (Symons) Small. He moved to Wayne County, Indiana and married Jane Moore in January 1816. The Smalls were Quakers and were first members of the Whitewater Monthly Meeting, then moved their membership to West Grove, Milford, Duck Creek and finally Spiceland. Josiah died on August 16, 1835 at the age of 44 and is buried in Spiceland Friends Cemetery.
