Historical Note

The Indiana Democratic Editors Association (IDEA) was founded in 1881. Dick Heller, Jr.(born in 1929) was the editor of the Decatur Daily Democrat and an active member of the association. He was the treasurer in 1962, secretary in 1963, vice-president in 1964, and the president in 1965. Heller was also appointed to be in charge of writing about the Association's history since he was working towards a Masters in History at Ball State University in 1959. Heller died in 2010 in Weslaco, Texas.
