Biographical Note
Mildred Ruth (Rickert) Lowell was an educator. She was born around 1906 in Union City, Indiana and had a younger borther named Charles Samuel (ca. 1910-1986). She attended Indiana University, graduating in 1928 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in fine arts, as well as Miami University in Ohio, John Herron Art Institute, and the University of Michigan. She married H. Matthew Lowell in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Rickert taught at a public school in Michigan after finishing her education.
