Biographical / Historical
Zachary Taylor was born in Virginia on November 21, 1784. He married Margaret Mackall Smith on June 21, 1810. Zachary and Margaret had six children. Taylor was a career Army officer, rising to become a general. He served as President from the Whig party beginning in 1849. He died July 9, 1850 in Washington, D.C. and is buried at the Zachary Taylor National Museum near Louisville, Kentucky.
