Historical Note
The History Teachers Association of Indiana was organized in 1955 to promote interest in history and its problems among history teachers of Indiana, to disseminate scholarly studies, to promote personal contacts among history teachers, to provide an opportunity for discussion of common problems, and to cooperate with other organization interested in similar ends, especially the Indiana Historical Bureau and the Indiana Historical Society.
Membership was open to teachers of history in the schools and colleges of Indiana. The offices of president and vice president rotated between college and secondary school teachers. The organization’s annual meeting was held in Indianapolis in conjunction with the Indiana History Teachers conference.
