Historical Note
Cass County, Indiana was named for General Lewis Cass, governor of the Michigan Territory and active participant in negotiating treaties with the Native Americans living in the region. The county was created on December 18, 1828 by an act of the Indiana Legislature and Bethlehem Township was later organized on March 7, 1836. The township contains 36 full sections and is situated in the northern part of the county in congressional township 28 north, range 2 east.
