Scope and Contents
This collection includes a charter for the Subordinate Union Club No. 6 issued by the Subordinate Union Club of Indiana in Indianapolis, dated June 16, 1862, authorizing present officers and members in Illinois to “do and perform all and every such acts and things appertaining to the U.C. organization, as have been and ought to be done for the safety and support of the Union...” The document has a handwritten notation at the top from J. H. Oakwood on May 29, 1890. There is also a transcript donated by Otto M. Knoblock of South Bend, dated January 20, 1863, regarding S.U.C. Indiana North.
In 1926, an unknown Indianapolis woman donated the 12 x 14” charter for the Subordinate U.C. No. 6, which is dated June 16, 1862. The charter was issued from the S.U.C. of Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, to Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, and authorizes the present officers and members of S.U.C. of south ½ of Catline (?), County of Vermillion, and State of Illinois, to “do and perform all and every such acts and things appertaining to the U.C. organization, as have been and ought to be done for the safety and support of the Union...”

There were Union Clubs in Boston and Nebraska, but no evidence links them with the S.U.C. of Indiana.
