Administrative History
In December 1884, Sharon E. Jones went into partnership with William H. Gordon, under the firm name of Jones and Gordon, in Richmond, Indiana. Following Gordon's retirement in 1885, Andrew J. Jones and Rutherford B. Jones became stockholders with their brother and the company's name was changed to Jones Bros. Andrew left the company in 1890 and Sharon and Rutherford continued together until 1894 when the business was reorganized and capitalized under the name of the Jones Hardware Company. At one time, it was the largest wholesale and retail hardware business in eastern Indiana and second largest in the state. The company was closed and liquidated in 1928.
