Biographical Note
John F. Cruft was born in Massachusetts on September 6, 1800. He relocated to Vigo County, Indiana, living in Terre Haute and Harrison over the years. He married Elizabeth Armstrong on December 17, 1823 in Knox County, Indiana.They had several children, including Charles (the U.S. Civil War general), Edward, Lucia E., Francis W., and John W. He died April 24, 1862 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
