Historical Note
In 1850, circuit rider O.P. Boyden was appointed to the Methodist mission at Lisbon, Indiana. Kendallville, Indiana was one of fifteen "points" in his circuit. In 1854, the head of the fifteen points was moved from Lisbon to Kendallville and Asbury Andrews was assigned to the circuit. The congregation worshipped in an old Baptist church until they built their own church in 1858. The church burned down in 1872 and a new building was completed and dedicated on Christmas Day 1874. Known for a time as the First Methodist Episcopal Church, the congregation is now known as Trinity United Methodist Church.
