This collection includes two copies of the script for "Out of the Wilderness," a pageant staged on October 19, 1944 in the Grace Methodist Church auditorium in Kokomo, Indiana. The pageant includes six episodes that present the past, present and future of the church as told by "Eagerheart" to "Methodism."

Historical Note

In October 1944, the Grace Methodist Church of Kokomo, Indiana celebrated its centennial. An elaborate, six-day program was organized and included the staging of "Out of the Wilderness," a pageant written by Eos Petty Richardson and directed by Mildred Bradley Kern. The purpose of the pageant was to present the spirit of pioneer Methodism as lived by the followers of John Wesley in Kokomo.
