Historical Note

The Pisgah Methodist Church is located in Graham Township, Jefferson County, Indiana and is one of the oldest churches in the Hoosier state. It was established in 1818 and the first meeting house was a log structure built near Raccoon Spring on land owned by Adam Troutman. A brick church replaced the log structure in 1836 and then a new church was built in 1853. On July 26, 1953, the church held a program to commemorate the centennial of the 1853 church and celebrate the 135th anniversary of the founding of the church.
