Historical Note
The history of the Union Church of Boone County, Indiana traces back to the 1830s. On January 6, 1844, church members signed the "Regulations of Union Church in Boone County" acknowledging the Bible as the only rule of faith and practice and accepting the Augsburg Confession of Faith as a "compendium" to the Bible doctrine. A Lutheran congregation, the church was later called the Union Lutheran Church. Located in Union Township, early services were said to have been held on the land owned by John Good, father of Henry Good. Roscoe Floyd, the donor of the collection, was the great-grandson of Henry and Elizabeth (Smelser) Good.
