Historical Note

The town of Whitestown is located northwest of Indianapolis in Boone County, Indiana. It was laid out in 1851 around the time the railroad was built through the area. The community is named in honor of Albert S. White, a United States Representative and Senator who also served as president of the Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Lafayette Railway. Following the Civil War, Philip Buck (1822-1881) purchased land from Ambrose Neese and added Buck's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd additions to Whitestown.
