Miami National Reserve maps
Collection — Folder: S1622
Identifier: S1622
Scope and Contents
This collection includes seven half sheet maps and one full size map, hand drawn in ink on vellom paper. The first half-size one is entitled "T. 21, N., R. 1 E. 2nd Mer." Each half-size map following is labeled the same except for the T. (Township) number, which progresses from 21 to 27. The full-size map is: "Township No. 27 N, Range No. 4 E 2nd Mer." On this larger map, the Wabash River is along the bottom edge with Miamisport just north of the river. The sections above Miamisport are: 3 and 4, 9 and 10, 15 and 16, 21 and 22, and 27 and 28. The boundaries are noted by trees, such as ironwood, ash, sugar, elm, oak, and beech. There is one exception to the tree markers, which is the northwest corner of section 28 marked by "Mound in prairie." Creeks are drawn in all the sections except sections 27 and 28. In the Miamisport area, twelve tiny boxes are drawn along the Wabash River to represent dwellings.
