Biographical Note
John Wesley Wimer was born on February 7, 1829 in Orange County, New York to Michael and Hannah Wimer. He moved with his family to Carroll County, Indiana around 1841. He began his career in business as a clerk in a Georgetown (Cass County) merchantile before conducting his own stores in Lockport, Delphi, Burnettsville, and Logansport. He was active in Republican politics and served as the representative for Benton and White Counties in the Indiana General Assembly in 1871. He passed away in Burnettsville on November 13, 1901.
