Biographical Note

John B. Vorhies was born in 1827. A farmer and carpenter, Vorhies settled in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana in 1871. John married Lucinda Lemasters in Marion County on November 22, 1871. The couple had one son named Dow W. Vorhies. John and Lucinda purchase land on Bluff Road between Troy Avenue and Sumner Street. Dow resided at the family farm until his death in 1939.
