Scope and Contents
This collection has been separated into three folders, all of which contain photocopies. The first folder has the pages from William E. Robertson's account book from 1884 through 1915. The first page states: "Acct. Book of W. E. Robertson who made bricks, grandfather of M. C. Carter." Following the six pages of A to Z entries, there are pages 13 through 195 which list dates, names, work done, and cost.
Folder 2 has deeds from 1835 and 1837, lists of settlers with their dates of emigration and dates of death, and minutes of a meeting of the old settlers' association (page 37).
Folder 3 has information of the old settlers of Burlington, Indiana, such as dates of births, places of birth, when they came to the county, and dates of deaths.

Biographical Note
William E. Robertson was born in November 1858, and married Amanda, who was born in September of the same year. William's father was born in North Carolina and his mother was born in Ohio. William and Amanda lived in Burlington, Carroll County, Indiana. In the collection, it says that William made bricks. The 1900 census lists him as a farmer. William and Amanda had five children when the census taker recorded their information in 1900. Their four daughters were Villie, age 17; Elizabeth, age 15; May, age 12; and Maree, age 8. Their son was Russel, age 4.
