This collection includes a copy of the Civil War diary from James A. Pressly in Marion County, Indiana, in 1865, regarding his service in the 79th Indiana Regiment, as well as copies of Republican campaign tickets indicating Pressly's brother John ran for the position of sheriff of Marion County, Indiana in 1876 and 1880.

Biographical Note
James Andrew Pressly was born July 29, 1840, in Marion, Indiana to James and Elizabeth (Hamilton) Pressly. He had a brother named John T. Pressly. James Pressly married Anna E. Fletcher on June 23, 1898. He served with the 79th Indiana Regiment during the U.S. Civil War. Pressly died in 1902 in Marion, Indiana.
John Pressly was born in Preble County, Ohio on May 7, 1831. He married Mary A. Dunn on June 25, 1855. Pressly was elected sheriff of Marion County, Indiana in the late 1870s and 1880. He died April 27, 1894 in Marion County.
