Biographical Note

John R. Simpson, born September 1834, was the son of attorney, A. J. Simpson of Paoli, Orange County, and attended Westfield Academy in Massachusetts (1852–1855). Simpson worked as a businessman in Paoli, Indiana, Davenport, Iowa, and New York. He married his wife Adie in 1875 and they had three children: Arthur, John, and Charles. John R. Simpson died November 25, 1906.
