Biographical Note

Van Edward Lewark was born on May 1, 1865 in Fayette County, Indiana to Martin and Melinda Lewark. He was a teacher for more than twenty five years and owned and operated the Lewark Garage in Glenwood, Indiana. He died on May 21, 1944. He son, Van Robert, was born July 23, 1893 and was a World War I veteran. He received training at the General Motors Training School at Detroit, Michigan and took over the ownership of the garage in 1929. A lifelong resident of Glenwood, he died on April 18, 1964.
