Biographical Note
During U.S. Civil War, Osgood served in the Fifth Indiana Volunteer Calvary as assistant surgeon from January 29, 1863 to May 25, 1864, when he resigned due to ill health. He married Harriet "Hattie" Lyons (1836-1890) on February 24, 1859 in Owen County, Indiana. They had four daughters, Anna, Elizabeth Eunice, Lora, and Hattie, who did not survive infancy. Osgood died in 1913 and was buried in the Gosport Cemetery.
