The collection consists of a typed transcript of a daily log of miles traveled, expenses, and experiences during a move from “our old habitation” through Martinsville, Indiana from August through September of 1826 to “our own cabin”.

Biographical Note

Simon B. Hadley was born May 9, 1795 in NC. His home was Chatham, NC according to the 1820 census. From 1824 through 1831, he made several purchases of land in Morgan County, IN. In 1850, he, his wife and 5 children lived in Morgan County, IN. He died April 5, 1856 and is buried in Mooresville, IN.
