Biographical Note

Clarence Virgil Edmondson was born in Morgan County, Indiana, on February 18, 1884 to Robert A. and Della (Appleby) Edmondson and was the oldest of five children. He married Mary Hopkins on March 11, 1906 in Hendricks County. They had three children and were foster parents for three children. He established the Edmondson Insurance Agency in 1908 in Clayton (Hendricks County), worked as a farmer, and was a pioneer in soybean production. He also was a fieldman for Greencastle Production Credit and a schoolteacher. He was a member of several organizations, including two historical societies, and authored, and was interviewed for, a number of historical/biographical reminiscences. He died on January 17, 1977 and is buried at the Clayton, Indiana cemetery.
