This collection includes correspondence from the Royse family to Arinda and Michael Dinn and others in Indiana ranging from 1873 to 1888 regarding family news and daily life. There is also a receipt for payment of taxes in Columbus, Bartholomew County, Indiana on January 29, 1875 and a deed conveying land in Bartholomew County to Arinda Dinn from a court case in 1888.

Biographical Note

Arinda Royse Dinn was born to Aaron and Elizabeth (McGuire) Royse. She married Michael Dinn (1845-) from Union City, Bartholomew County, Indiana on December 22, 1868. Michael Dinn had served in Company E of the 93rd Indiana Regiment during the U.S. Civil War. The couple had two children: Albert Orem (1870-1953) and Oliver Michael (1875-1949). Michael Dinn died of cholera on April 25, 1876, at the age of 31, in Jonesville, Bartholomew County. Decades later, Arinda Dinn remarried on August 17, 1910 to John R. Shelton.
